Description
I hadn't seen Maui in over five years, not since he'd left Interpol, he'd set himself up as a martial arts instructor, no surprise, he was the best. I always figured there was something else behind it though, Maui loved the work as much as I did. Still, I never asked, if he wanted to let me in he'd have asked in the first place.
Seeing Maui again brought it all back, the job, the good times, and the bad. I guess I got broody, we got talking, mostly about old flames, we had a running total back on the beat, last time I checked, I was way ahead. Maui wasn't that handsome, he was covered in scars from his time in the army and that tatoo on his face, a blue dragon or something like that, hell, he never talked about that either. It was hard to tell where Maui was from, he had a little of everything in him, but he was a cool guy, someone you could rely on in a firefight to back you up, or somebody to dig you out of a big hole of shit whether you asked him to or not. A real friend, one I shouldn't have let go.
I noticed the kid out of the corner of my eye, playing Bruce Lee aroudn Maui's home, it was all a big game to her, but Maui took it seriously, the lifestyle, the code of the fighter, it was his religion, but I could see he wasn't bothered by the kid, he was always a sucker for rugrats.
He'd heard about how I'd got kicked off the force, he'd tried to find me, to help out, but I didn't want anybody around me at that time, now though, maybe it was time to call in some old favours, maybe that's why I'd gone to see him, not just to talk about the old times, but the new. If there was one person I wanted backing me up, it was Maui.

Very interesting, like it. the composition seems a little lite on the left, needs something there i think. Looks like a fun story.
