Description

The pic in the upper left hand corner is from the Constitution. Does anyone know how to make rope in Carrara?

Great pic. Needs a Specular map I don't know if you can do one in Carrera. Take a look at the photo. the shine is very uneven with a specular map you can do the same. Your milage may vary of course. I have a great spec map on the Raiden but the angle of the pic you really can't see it. The rope I would just texture map it on a path extuded cylinder.

Pretty Good! Almost like the one in my gallery. Check it out. Good luck on the textures, that's probably the hardest part of doing a 3D model.

Always nice to see someone tackling my favorite genre, even if I am more of a Lord Cochrane and less of a James Lawrence follower. As for rope, I found that in the spline modeler you can make pretty good rope. First you make a cross section that looks roughly like the cross section of a piece of rope (don't make it out of multiple circles, but rather one piece using the pen tool). Set the extrusion method to pipeline, and make an extrusion of the rope. Once it is pretty, select the last node in the extrusion, and off the selection menu click create. Select the new cross section and from the arrange menu click rotate. Check the twist surface checkbox, and punch in a rotation (if you want the length of rope to twist four full times, it would be 1440). Nice work. EMC
