I have always been interested in art even as a young child, some of my family members are artists. I grew up with computers (AppleII, Texas Instruments, C64 ect), and some years ago I got in touch with Photoshop as a trainee and fell in love with it. Later I used it at home just to touch up my hand drawn works, till my brother brought me the 'holy' Poser Program and stuff, new worlds opened for me. It's like 'Barbie' for adults *g*, erm... to be right, I never played with Barbie ...but...whatever... So here I am, rendering and postworking - hope you'll like my pics :D If you have some ideas but no time, mail them to me, because i've got none this time :( Or, if someone is interested in a 'picture battle' or something like that, or is tired of making pics alone, mail me! By the way, I'm searching for someone with Bryce, 3DS etc skills to make a really cool sci-fi pic or something like that. Not that I got an idea yet, but... Since I only can upload one pic a day, the next 2 month I've got something to do till all my 'good' pix I have yet are up. So drop by every day! :) And feel free to leave a comment :D I don't care about rating, but I loooove comments! So I know that I had my job done right..or even not ;)

The "ring" around the head is called a halo in English, but the word nimbus can also also used. Nimbus is the light that radiates out from the undressed part of a holy being and is thus different from the halo (which is actually a corruption or misinterpretation of the nimbus). This applies to holy persons or holy angelic beings. Diabolic spiritual beings or humans don't have halos or a nimbus as they are filled with darkness and not the devine light. Since Lucifer is a dark, cold being, he can't stand light and his feet must be burningly painful! Good image!

I agree about the halo on Lucifer . But you did a really awesome job on the effects of the burning feet . Since Lucifer is a fallen angel he wouldnt have the halo .But the image is still very impressive and I like it alot Phil

I disagree with everyone's idea that satan should not have a halo. but also, i think that satan should be more beautiful than Gabriel, as according to most early Christian mythos, satan is the most beautiful angel, which is how he is tempting. also, if you look at Milton's Paradise Lost, satan is described as having a halo of sorts.

Philipp, I think you need to decide how technical you want to be on things. It's art and there is Artistic Liscence. This can be fantasy or you can go for the more "realistic" view of these 2 angels fighting. I tend to agree that Lucifer shouldn't have the Halo (but you could artistically give him something else - a ring of flame around his head [as a foretaste of the fire he will one day face] or something like that). Also the halo on Gabriel looks great! I don't know where wosendott is getting the information above, but Gabriel in the Scriptures is a man - his name literally translated from Hebrew means "Man of God." I agree that Gabriel on his own would be weaker than Lucifer - but Gabriel would be fighting in the Strength of the Lord. Apparently, any angel may at one time or another have to fight any fallen angel (See Daniel Chapter 10 verses 12-14 for an example of a weaker Angel of God confronted with a more powerful "Prince" of the fallen angels. Note that the Angel of God receives help in the form of reinforcements - Michael one of the Chief Princes). I'd say make your art your way and use as much or as little of what I've said as you wish. Even if you don't remake this image it is great just as it is. - oh - and I like the burning feet. nice touch. Great work!

Ok. I think I remove Lucifer's halo, maybe add some flames on Lucifer or sth like that, and that's it. Or maybe I let it the way it is, I like the discussion here :D

Although angels are considered to be without gender, we often consider them to be either male or female. Gabriel is unique in being the only female archangel. It has been suggested that that is why Gabriel sits on the left side of God, the "feminine" side, with the Archangel Michael on the right. Gabriel is considered the angel of child birth, and of creativity. Whether thought of as male or female, Gabriels attributes encompass them both. It was Gabriel who inspired Joan of Arc to go to battle for the King of France. And Gabriel has been named as the angel of dreams, hope, mercy, death, revelation and, along with Michael, as the angel of war and justice(3). (http://www.manuscriptarts.net/Ave_VIN1_gabriel.htm)

Sweet. Now, all we need is a picture of the fight that started it all: Michael vs. Lucifer
