Again there's a kind of hyperreality here... it looks so incidental, so natural, yet this scene can't exist... and what's he looking at? Something about this work wants me to keep looking. Beautiful :-)

I agree with Synapse (hyperreality, incidental, natural) 100% ... I also want to add indifferent as a characteristic of the pose. Perhaps Pan wouldn't notice photography -- someone taking his picture. IMO, that gives it an additional touch of realism.
