Description
"Mom chased me up this tree." "There must be danger."
Yes, thats one of two reasons a Mother bear will chase the cub up a tree.
There is another.
The Cub is 2 years old, ready to go on his own.
This is the only way she can leave, make the break, cut the umbilical cord.
It's time for Mom to find a new male.
It's time for the cub to become a adult.
The cub will wait in the tree until it gets hungry.
While it waits, does it worry about Mom?
Does it wonder where she is?
Maybe the memory fades.
He will start out on his own with the skills Mom taught him.
The skills will be refined and relearned or he will die.
His main enemy will be older males.
He can still climbs trees to escape them until he is fully matured.
The cub will live off of small creatures, fruits and berrys.
In one more year he will bring down deer.
When he reaches Four he can bring down a Elk.
Right now he is just Waiting for Mom to give the all clear signal.
It won't come this time.

Nice render, choice of subject and uncluttered VP landscape, Frank. I must get back to using mine. Regards, John.
