Description

Ok!! I will post most of my work in the photography gallery now since we just bought a fantastic cam and I just can't leave it alone even when sleeping! O_o It's a Sony cybershot DSC-F717 and I'm trying things out at the moment, cos I have no idea how it really works! This shot is one of my first attempt with it, and a "Sam's serie" is on it's way! I REALLY want some constructive advice here, any tips is more than welcome, I REALLY want to learn!! So anyway, thx for taking the time to stop by and help me out here! :D Huge hug to all and each of u! PS: Only postwork done is Brightness and contrast adjustement + the frame of course!

Hi Pascale ! :o) First of all congrats with the cam !! This is really an excellent portrait, great positioning and angle. As for advice, only thing i can think of is the flash reflecting in the eyes. Maybe it would be better not to take this with flash. Otherwise superb work !! :o)

Ah!! Ok!! But it was an indoor shot so if I hadn't use the flash it would have been all dark!! How can I do this?? Any advice?? PLz!!

I shoot quite always insight, but I use never the flash. Well, surely often light is too much poor, but with a good cam (and mine is not a good cam) you can capture light enough. More, you can use a still light source, to enlight without reflections. Then you can also play with poor light sources: often the light of a room can give a warm orange effect, or a cold blue one. Well, Im the last person who can give such advices, for Im not a photographer. Yet, if you can find something iteresting in my suggestions I will be pleased. For the shot: well, usually I dont like much, shots of the pets; but this one has a great expression, and fantastic tones. It is something different respect to your usual works, but it is artistic as your style. Probably a more contrast could give a more depth, underlining the forms - but I say this only to find something wrong! For the rest it is perfect. BIG VOTE :o)

Ah, your sweet Sam! He looks so comfortable, and happy there! Really great shot with an impressive crop! And I agree with above there - you don't need to use the flash; your camera is definitely good enough to catch light also inside, even in normal lighting. So you'll get even more tones in your photo. :-) I can't wait to see more ecxellent photos from you! :-D

Oh I luv the little flashy eyed doggy.LOL...You'll do just fine I'm sure after a few shots. One little trick might be to cover your flash with a small piece of paper or frosted plastic. Experiment, but don't mess up your new camera/toy.

Hey, I love dogs named Sam! I think its a great dog portrait, all his hair is nice and sharp and his eyes don't have too much reflectivity. Have fun with the new camera, I still don't know how to work my cheap one!

Hi Pascale, nice to see you posting some straight photography as well! I just have to agree with the others about the flash, personally I hate flash as it almost always gives boringly lit results no matter what you do! Basically the only time that kind of lighting happens in nature is for the split second of a lightning bolt! As the others said maybe you just need another light source to give you enough of an exposure, and you'd have the chance to choose the direction of that lighting as well - although cameras these days seem SO sensitive even in poor light. Apart from that, an adorable shot and I look forward to seeing more of Sam and whatever captures your eye hugs

Hi Pascale! Nice crop on this one - wall-to-wall doggie! As for photography tips, I find a tripod useful for low light situations. Just set the self-timer et voila! Nice, sharp pics without flash, as long as the subject doesn't move! Anyway, have fun! Hope to see more pics soon :-)
