Description
Killing Me Softly
The bamboo nestled together in the grove,
waiting,
for the long fingers
of the gentle, autumn breeze
to tousle its leaves.
The proud cypresses stood tall on their toes
striving,
connecting,
to the clouds.
The weeping willow
bent forward;
its drooping fingers caressing the lake,
whispering sweet nothings.
They have been friends for a while.
The dragonfly darted over the water
scarcely alighting,
causing
clear, hesitant ripples.
The silent duck paddled,
purposefully,
with its high energy brood in tow.
Playing hide and seek
with the golden hued clouds,
the sun hung in the horizon,
unwilling to set.
I inhaled deeply, drinking in the scene.
The vague smell of exhaust fumes,
from the rumbling wheels of progress
from the highway nearby
filled my senses,
killing me softly.

we had a weeping willow in my mother's yard it was lovely but then it got hit by lightning, very beautiful shot and tranquil, nice poem too!
