Description
This is a second version of the same picture with much changed. The original version can be see on deviantart at http://www.deviantart.com/view/12986536/.
This pic is dedicated to my wife.
Technical:
I still hate Poser. The Firefly renderer hates me and 9 times out of 10 freezes without letting me cancel the render. If I'm dumb enough not to save before trying a render I lose alot of work.
I liked the original, but there were alot of things that bothered me. This new version keeps the same morphs for rayne's face, the same eyes (texture made by me), the same base skin texture (more on this in a sec) and the same lip color (v3 glossy american gothic).
The hair is completely different. I hated the "blockiness" of the hair on the original version. What's amazing is this hair was FREE! It can be downloading here: [link] . An amazing site and I highly recommend the free Poser hair they have for download. The hair I chose was Kyoko Hair MK-3. I started with the black texture that came with it and added some ambient purple and played with a few other settings to give the hint of purple in her hair.
The second thing that bugged me was how smooth and "perfect" her skin was. In the original version, I'd played with the texture in Photoshop to give it some life, but all in all you can barely see what I did. In this version I used the Real Skin Shader by face_off. You can get it over at renderosity. Highly recommended. I played a little with the nodes after running this in the Material Room in Poser. This will take some getting used to. I still notice a couple things about her skin that bug me, but overall an improvement I'm quite happy with.
Another tiny thing, even tho you mostly only see her head, is that she was naked in the previous version. I put the Morphing Fantasy Dress with a morph/texture from the High Fantasy Pack from Daz3d on her. Even tho you only see it just slightly on her shoulder, I felt it made a difference.
And last, but most certainly not least, was the background. I hated it in the original version! Here, I used another Daz3d prop (the place of birds or whatever it's called). And behind that is an old Vue D'Esprit 4 render I had sitting on my hard drive. I always keep my "crappy" renders around, because you never know what spot it can fill!
Poser absolutely refused to render rayne and the background prop at the same time, so I had to do individual renders of the prop and rayne and save them as png's (with the alpha channel) and then composite those 2 layers, plus the Vue layer in Photoshop. Added just a tiny touch of gaussian blurring to the backgrounds. Some other minor adjustments and the border were added. Mostly, tho, rayne and the prop are as-is from Poser.
Any suggestions on improvement would be greatly appreciated!

You put hell of a lot of work into this image by the sounds of it and it realy shows. What a wonderful creation!!

Well she came out very nicely - one of the best Poser renders of this type I've seen. One tiny suggestion is to do some postwork on her glowing inner nostrils, often a problem with Poser renders. But that's a tiny nitpik - excellent over all.

Thank you both for your comments and rankings! You're absolutely right, dragonfly2000, I should probably fix the "glowing nostrils" problem. For some reason I didn't notice it til you pointed it out. Thanks again.

Nice one. Firstly - glowing nostrils - I'm not sure why this happens (I haven't had a problem with it yet - but I suspect it is shadows/light position thing) - so try turning on shadows. Also, locking while rendering....this absolutely should not happen! Are you using SR4? How much RAM have you got? Most lock problems seem to be with hair, but Koz hair shouldn't cause a problem. Have you got ray tracing on? If so, R/T might be being caught up in her hair - so uncheck "Visible in ray tracing" on the hair prop.
