Description

Hi guys.... its been a while and I see that the tallent here is still rich. This is a practice test to recreate a 3d model of a life size design by John Cox, (His SFX workshop did Pitch Black, Babe, Racing stripes and PeterPan etc) Gillman is not finished yet. I have a way to go. I am going to try to cover his body with slime and a sheen. I can't change his geometry and stay true to the original design, so I will focus on his texturing. He was built with LW8.2 and displaced and coloured with Zbrush 2. (my first attemped at Zbrush) Any comments are always appreciated. Thanx for your time, John Cooper

Nice work. I really like the design for the hands. as for the colouring of the skin textures. And this is just my thoughts so feel free to ignore me by all means, but often skin is coloured depending on weather it is in an area which, streaches, or contracts more or less than other areas. What I mean is the area under the jaw, near the neck will flex a lot, but the area near the ears, won't flex as much, so one area will tend to be softer and have a tone which reflects that. Consider the area under your eyes if you look in a mirror. The lower lid changed colour as you move lower onto the cheek area. The other thing you might what to take into account, is darker colours tend to go to the "top" of a creature and lighter ones to the "bottom". This is because sunlight makes darker area brighter and a creature doesn't want to be noticed by predators if it can avoid it. The overall colour range is great however, and a like the contrast created with the eye colours.
