Description

- Scotland, Glen Affric - High on a rock I had a view to a power station. That was also the place where I yesterday took the shot. Powerful and noisy the water was running on the left. When crossing the dam there was a heavy wind blowing and I was afraid to be blown away. Standing in the middle of the bridge and looking to the right across the water that reached the edge of the dam I had the strange feeling that I'm right standing on all the overwhelming masses of the tide and in a minute it could sweep me away. (the red thing on the dam is a lifering) Thanks for all your interest and comments! ;o)

Nice shot, Rita. My old neighbour spent years building hydroelectric stations, and the dams, all over the Highlands, about 50 years ago. They still work. HE has retired. He said it seemed always to be cold. If they were lucky they had a canteen at night, and often slept in tents, during the summer months. Every fortnight they got to go to a dance in a village hall. He proceeded to build similar plants all over the world. Today they give us wind farms with giant windmills. Hydroelectric power is more sustainable, and cheaper!! Sorry for rambling, Rita. Warm regards, John.

Incredible powers, those waters! We all know of it... :( But it can generate a lot of energy and I guess they do that here! As long as you're having grip there you're not gonna be blown away!

WOW! That is not a very big dam for all that water. And not a big life ring either, lol! But I get the same feeling looking at the great mass of water here. Beautiful capture of this Rita! :) V
