What do you do when you have a totally overcast day with simply no color in the sky and a subject that is lacking color? Well I figured its about time for some B/W work. Unfortunately I am new to B/W and I am wondering about how to best present my work.
If you guys are kind enough to provide me with some feedback on the toning of the image I would really appreciat it.

Wow, what an amazing view. Great shot. I think it would look the best in its natural tone and colour. But if had to choose between those three i would go with the bottom one also. But up the levels a little, to make it look less "washed" out. Excellent work!!!

Amazing!!! This is one of your best. Please post a color version.

What software/technique are you using to turn colour into bw?

Really like all of them! If i had to choose one, i'd go for the one in the middle.

The bottom image expresses the greatest range of light or zones, it would be my preference - but it all really boils down to your own personal vision - they are all quite excellent! Bravo!

Woow... what a beautiful landscape !!! Agree with evernever, and would decide myself for the one in the middle. I prefer the more fresh tones of this one. I find the one at the bottom is to greeeeeeey, and that it does not need a nostalgic sepia-effect.

fantastic view of rocks and mountain! love the first one and its color setting! remind me of a scene of "Gothic II", an adventure game!

I honestly think you make everything look wonderful..but you should stick with the beautiful natural colors you always do..others make them b&w cause their colors isn't as wonderful as yours..smile..

The top duo-tone has too much of the second colour and it should be less since you only want a breath of the second tone. The middle image is so far he best but requires more contrast adjustments as actually all three do. THe bottom image has the top of 1/2 dome(?) washed out and we do not see the whisper of clouds as we would in the toned ones. By starting out in Levels with a minus -15/-0.85 and the last number remains the same, then convert in Channel Mixer to get the tones right. I would say R35/G65/B0, Experiment. Next head for brightness/contrast and brightness subtract about -15 and in contrast increase about +5, maybe even a -20 brightness and +10 Contrast settings. Now try a duo-tone with a setting of R151/G132/B115 or in CMYK these would be C15/M30/Y35/K35. Let me know how it turned out.

Hmmm i dunno, i kinda like the blue-green one. Im curious what the color version looks like. The shot itself is wonderful, excellent composition and landscape !!!

Splendid snapshot you share here. In this case I prefer middle one.. but the buttom one is also cool .. Always depends on the picture I think. Yeah, would be cool also to see the original shot for comparison.

Well it seems like you have no clear consensus. All three are good, each having their own appeal and strengths (IMHO of course). Hey, just go with the one YOU like best.
