The sky glowed bright green from the radiation. The city was in ruins. The Land was wasted,nothing lived, nothing survived. We were on our way back from Omercrat 48 when we heard the last transmission. We still don't know what happened, the transmission was cut short. Looking at Earth haloed by the bright green cloud, through the breaks it was black. No water, No lights, No snow capped peaks. I put the ship in orbit for 135 years, to wait out the radiation. The status chambers kept us from aging. It's now 2147 and the surface is safe for us with our suites. Ships computers show no signs of life anywhere, not even under ground. What ever did this was complete and fast. We landed on what was the Atlantic ocean, near New York. The City was searched and nothing was found, incineration was 100% No sign of bones or cars, just hard lumps or melted metal and rock. Walking back to the ship we took one last look. A beautiful Green with ugly under it. Earth was warned about the year 2012, guess they didn't listen Where we will go is still up for grabs. 12 of us left. As I look around I finally, really, understand the meaning of the word Lonely.
