Description
Although he's pedalling as hard as he can, I'm afraid he's not going to make it to the challenge. I've decided not to post this. Although it may be in the spirit of the idea of the challenge, I'm feeling that it's not in the spirit of a Bryce challenge, since although it was rendered in Bryce, it was modelled in Wings and a lot of shopping in PS. Anyway, here's the final version. Thanks for all the comments on the original, which I'll list here to avoid losing them:
JustinBm - Great work here. Wouldn't it be cool if they made a bryce 6 with a wings type prog incorporated? Again, awesome image. 02/19/2005
ju8nkm9l - Nice composition. Your blurring gives the illusion of motion in all the right places. The human model actually looks 100% human! You really captured the look and feel of an old photograph! Good job! I only have one minor gripe: The "sea" looks a little too shiny to be real water. 02/20/2005
garyandcatherine - This is absolutely fabulous. It is 99.999% realistic looking, like a real photo. Absolutely stunning work. V 02/20/2005
Claymor - Wicked cool man...I love it!! I do think though that the kids mom is going to be reallllly ticked when she finds her mixer is missing and all the family bikes are torn apart! 02/20/2005
draculaz - man you got bored really fast. i wonder what else you were doing :) 02/20/2005
violet - Fantastic work....!!! 02/20/2005
pacogrande - Well done, it's something new, congratulations for your great imagination. 02/20/2005

rrmmiss - very coooooooool !!! 02/20/2005
lemonjim - Makes me wonder what would happen if the Wrights had Bryce. Love the sepiatone effect and grain! 02/20/2005
alvinylaya - Very photographic effect. A very imppressive model as well. 02/20/2005
jrcejaspulido - Excellent model and motion effect. It looks like an old photograph. 02/20/2005
Kemal - hey, Phil, this looks very good man, looks like it's really there, you did awesome job on postwork too, vote ! :D 02/20/2005
zopeynn - :)wonderful work and very beautiful postwork! 02/21/2005
gonedigital - Fantastic! It looks like an old Wright Brothers photo. Beautiful work. 02/21/2005
EngleWolf - Outstanding work!!! looks so real... good luck !!! :o) 02/22/2005
waldomac - First off, I love this image. I'm a sepia freak, so I like to see people do things this way. Second, the model really is fabulous. Third, I love the way it does look like an old photograph, but ... and this is strictly my opinion: It appears to me that the water is a bit too reflective. In my experience, the reflectivity of water undulating as much as your sea surface loses some of it's Bryce-esque mirror reflection, because of tons of smaller ripples within the waves and, if near shore, a modicum of sea foam, too. If you were thinking it isn't quite where you want it yet, that is one area you might think about. This is NOT meant as a negative comment, because I like the image, as is, very much. 02/24/2005
Li-An - Nice in sepia. The model is excellent. 02/25/2005
adrian3Dart - Excellent model. Great photographic effect *VOTE* 02/26/2005

I gotta say again that this is fabulous work. The thing I like most is the hyper-real look to the poser dude. The clothes fit perfectly what he is doing and look so real. It looks like he is wearing an old style leather aviators hat with goggles. Excellent.
drawbridgep
OK, I cheated with the head. It's photoshopped from a real aviator and stuck onto a poser dude. :-)

I think that's a shame you'll not enter it into the competition, because for me it is a very fine piece of artwork... I hope no stiff-lip are criticizing you for using a modeller outside Bryce, 'cos this would be narrow-minded...
drawbridgep
Only my own stiff-lippedness. I just think there's too muich non-bryce work for a Bryce challenge.

Wonderful work of historical art; all about this is done well. Your use of post elements to make this one come alive is right on. Excellent work of art
sackrat

jrcejaspulido

superb!

What bryce challenge?..Musta missed it, myself! Gotta link for me?..and a very creative image DGP! Bryce is what you make it...I don't believe that Bryce should be tied down to purely a single functioning apllication, it is much more than that, IMHO. Keep using your imagination, your work is an excellent reflection of your true self. Peace, Mark
zopeynn
looks like an old photo!excellent work!
cambert
Wonderful piece of work. One of the most accomplished images I've seen on this site for a very long time.

My God! If that don't look like a photo. Excellent work! I can understand your reluctance to submit it into the contest, but I'm glad you shared it with us. Mark
Kemal
Dunno, Phil, regardless what you said, I believe that you should re-consider your decision, postwork or not, this should be in the challenge, period ! :D
EngleWolf
...you could enter this in a photography contest, it's like you stole it right out of a history book!! very impressive and something to be proud of..., I didn't read the rules for the contest and maybe this piece wouldn't have qualified from what you said... but this prime artwork is a winner in my book !!

Very romantically. The modern man spoiled by a civilization, with pleasure admires old planes, automobiles and black-and-white cinema. My vote.
kenmo
Awesome...!!!!
