Taking this picture was a major pain in the a**. I went to this point more than once and the light was never right. Even this time it was not perfect but it was good.
You are looking at the horsetail fall in Yosemite NP. In the last weeks of February the fall carries just enough water and the sun is just in the right position so that the sun backlights the fall and makes it glow in the dark.
It was quite a spiritual experience. First we stood at the right place in the right angle looking up the cliffs and did not see the waterfall. Already preparing for a big dissapointment the sun all of a sudden hit the fall (actually mostly mist) and like magic it appeared in front of our eyes. This moment was all the reward neededfor the time spent trying to capture this. What a day.

the stalking of the falls paid off with just the right light giving it a beautiful cast of gold against the rough grey rock!! the little trees really give it a sense of size too :]

As the sun strikes the water it turns it into liquid gold. Waiting for the moment can seem to take forever, but the rewards are fantastic. So enjoy the fruits of your labor. V
