Description

This was an old ore chute in an abandoned Irish copper mine.
These chutes are narrow shafts cut into the rock with wooden containers at the bottom to allow miners to drop rocks and minerals down from higher levels to a tramway.
This one was interesting because the water was so acidic and rich in copper bearing minerals that over time it has coated the rock and wood with these interesting formations.
[Pentax WR90 Zoom (very glad it was waterproof here!), just one flash - tried putting a second flash higher up the chute, but the flow of water was so strong it kept washing the flash gun down the chute, in fact it was almost impossible to stand near the top!]

Great image. I really like what water and rock can do to any foreign item in their way. Soon, everything will belong to the mountain again. I did caving just once but I really enjoyed it. So many spots you normally should not miss with your camera.
