I was sure that I had commented on this one, Anthony. Must have hit the wrong button. As a child, I helped out in the harvesting of the fields around my Gran's. The whole family from about 5 years up helped. If the weather was good, the weans got the day off school to build the hay into haystacks ( none of your mechanically rolled and plastic covered stuff in those days! ). Indeed the old neighbouring farm still had a hay wain. It was so wide that they had to take away the fence posts to get it into one of the fields. I well remember being up with the dawn, reading voraciously, and looking out over a harvested field, trying to pick out the well camouflagued corncrake, as it made its cry among the stalks. Regards, John.
