Description

All rendered in ArchiCAD 9 using Lightworks render engine The image is made up of two renderings one with the glass very transparent the other reflecting like a mirror. With the two renderings on separate layers in Photoshop with the glass areas set to "multiply" and by using the layer opacity slider I had instant feedback on what the finished glass would look like. The Office interior was rendered separately and then a layer mask added to the windows with a gradient fill to show some of the ceiling reflected on the glass but not the rest of the office space as I didn't have time to do furniture layouts.

excellent job and alot of work. One office building looks as though part of it is missing near the top or am I just looking at it wrong? Either way, this is excellent. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback. The missing bit of building is due to the shape of the building as the boss wanted the view set up to deliberatley imply that part of the building was missing I'm not to happy with the trees so I'm wondering about getting OnyxTree Pro its a bit pricey but looks like it does a good job any advice anyone can give about using it would be very helpful

I'm curious as to why you had to render in two parts. I don't use ArchiCAD, so I surmise there's some kind of limitation you may have been dealing with. Before I read your response I noticed the missing part of building and that the trees were too identical, which you're addressing. I also noticed, however that the glass on some of the parked autos seems to be flat grey. I get the feeling they don't have materials applied to them. Other than that, nice render. I appreciate the effort that went into this, believe me.

I rendered it as two separate images for speed and safety. I only had one afternoon to do it in and so I felt I would have more control by doing it this way. If I had done a straight render I wouldn't have had such easy control over the transparencey of the glass. The other reason was safety, the boss had asked for the view as shown but in case I got into problems with the glass of the office I was viewing the model from I knew that at the very least I would have a useable image even if I ran out of time

Oh yes I forgot, I think there maybe a problem with some of the glass textures on the cars but time just didn't permit to suss it out.
