Architectual Technician passion for buildings, cycling, computers and beer.BIOWork for an Architects office using a CAD package called ArchiCAD which uses a 3d model to simulate a building.
This got me into trying to learn some 3d stuff so I bought Strata 3d Pro which is fairly easy to get your head around compared to some of the other kit out there!
Only problem I have is that I never have any spare time to do some images for pleasure, so I haven't really progressed that much in the last year or so since I got the software.

excellent job and alot of work. One office building looks as though part of it is missing near the top or am I just looking at it wrong? Either way, this is excellent. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback. The missing bit of building is due to the shape of the building as the boss wanted the view set up to deliberatley imply that part of the building was missing I'm not to happy with the trees so I'm wondering about getting OnyxTree Pro its a bit pricey but looks like it does a good job any advice anyone can give about using it would be very helpful

I'm curious as to why you had to render in two parts. I don't use ArchiCAD, so I surmise there's some kind of limitation you may have been dealing with. Before I read your response I noticed the missing part of building and that the trees were too identical, which you're addressing. I also noticed, however that the glass on some of the parked autos seems to be flat grey. I get the feeling they don't have materials applied to them. Other than that, nice render. I appreciate the effort that went into this, believe me.

I rendered it as two separate images for speed and safety. I only had one afternoon to do it in and so I felt I would have more control by doing it this way. If I had done a straight render I wouldn't have had such easy control over the transparencey of the glass. The other reason was safety, the boss had asked for the view as shown but in case I got into problems with the glass of the office I was viewing the model from I knew that at the very least I would have a useable image even if I ran out of time

Oh yes I forgot, I think there maybe a problem with some of the glass textures on the cars but time just didn't permit to suss it out.
