when i say the couch is just "there" , i mean there are no shadows, texture, lighting, etc. Take my advise, listening to people who have no technical skill in 3d will hold you back. i don't consider myself an expert by far, but i think if you want to progress in this field, the technical aspects of the work have to be mastered. By the style of table you are trying to work with, the imagination part is there, just realize that having a great idea is nothing without a way to express it or deliver your vision. you are listening to advise, this is evident in the newer post you made, just keep practicing and really, it will get better. let me recomend a project for you. simply create a flat plane in 3ds max, then put a spher on it,and maybe a teapot. then render. now add lights, adjust colors and textures, play with bump maps, displacement, and other things like opacity and specular levels. anyhow, play with it for about 20- 20 minutes and then compare images. you should see a huge difference in terms of qaulity and your style of images will start to form. (what yu like and don't like, your style... this is the best advise i can give at the moment.
