Description

This is my first attempt at acheiving any realism in an image I've created.. so any constructive critism and feedback would be most welcome and appreciated! Have done very minor postwork.. mainly a slight blur to the background.. and fixed up a couple of minor faults like where Ive had the knickers string poking thru the fingers of the left hand. Overall tho at this stage Im prtty happy with the end result. Thanks for taking the time to look :-) Other product credits: Lights - DNA Radiosity.. RDNA freebie. Used them as a starting point then tweaked as I felt necessary. All Vicki3 and props from Daz store.

This is way better than good for a first attempt. Since you asked, I ai for realism in some pictures as well, and found it worth to play around with the amount of bumping used. It depends on the virtul distance off the character. try to increase even up to 0.04. You can adjust it later for any body part e.g. the face. Secondly her left hand seems to be a problem, it still got a bit plastic looks. Next experience I can share is try to reduce pure whte light to very light brown (like skin color). Looking forward to see your next go for it.

The pose, POV and composition are outstanding! The blur of the background also. So you asked for Tips? I would try other lights, for me the RealSkinShader looks best renderd with only 3-5 lights, one light blue for highlight and the others white or the tone you like. And increase quality and shadowmap settings. I always (if it will not chrash) render with raytracing and an skydome with texture fitting the scene. Keep up the good work!

I love this image, great job. I don't know much about realism in Poser but the above comment about lights might be what I am thinking. Maybe the straps could have some shadow with different light to bring them forward a bit, they look a little flat on the skin. Or if this was rendered without shadows maybe it could be rendered with? The imgae is excellent to me just as it is as well so, great job.

Coming along nicely. Now the tough part. To get contact shadows. Use light1 shadowcam and zoom in as far as you can. Use X, Y axis (forget hither). From shadow cam view click on light 1 and lower bias and rerun script. Perhaps 1 global (8%) to highlight dark edge (position front left). And/or add 1 rayTrace global(10%intensity, shadow 0.300) 256 map and position to point at right hip behind light 1. Some trials and errors...I would bump the linings with a cloth texture and displace the fabric (0.02). A tad more bump on the skin...to break it up. Misery awaits! Good luck.

Really great render Whimsical - reflected by the many contructive comments given so far. I like the way the lighting from the background image matches what you've used on the model. Skin texture and settings is really very good. I agree with comjek that some roughing up could help, either with bump or displacement - experiment it see which works for you. If you use displacement, it may cause the skin to move into the undies (might be good, might be bad!). Also, watch your min displacement bounds in the render settings if you upp the bump or displacement. Her clothes look a touch less real than her skin. A very fine bumpmap on her clothing will help (if the product doesn't come with a bump - use a noise node). Also Richardson's shadow suggestions will help with cloth-skin shadows.

A huge thank you to everyone so far for the encouraging comments and wonderfully helpful suggestions!! Looking forward to experimenting with a lot of the suggestions this evening and seeing what different results I am able to achieve Off to work for me for the day.. rude how reality has a habit of intruding at times!! ;-)
