Great project...what was the render time on this one?

Nice work, The nebula looks really good, how did you do that, is it a plugin or post?
MaxedOut
correct me if i am wrong but it looks like the background is just an image, but it is very well integrated with the ship through the use of lighting and volumetric shadows? anyways, i like this one the best out of the three. well done.
Dynamix2001
this is the best pic from the series. looks very good

Actually, the background is a compilation of different images from a site that had raw Hubble telescope images of nebulas and gas clouds. I used quite a bit of Photoshop manipulation to create the final background image so that it would match the lighting setup in Max.

the nebula is an image (i use the same pic as wallpaper :-) its from an artist who enhance photos that are made with hubble or other great telescopes. i like the way he integrated it into this pic. looks great. UPDATE: i now see some difference, it is the m16 eagle nebular. but that are not RAW photos from hubble. these are presentation pictures. they have been processed extensively. the raw hubble picture look totaly different

Yeah, I altered the Hubble stuff quite a bit because I wasn't sure if they allowed people to use them in this manner and I didn't want any hassles.

This is the best Star Trek space scene I have ever seen. Do you have a book or anything?
TwoPynts
I recognize the nebulas in the background, but you did do a great job of intregrating the ship lighting wise. The left looks like a detail of the Horsehead or Lagoon nebula while the right side is a fragment from the Helix nebula. Nicely integrated!

Cool pic. I like how the lighting and the background match up so well.
