Just did a tiny bit o' research, don't take my word on this; Structuraly, this model appears to be the Hawk 87A (Warhawk). As far as the paintscheme and unit, it should be the Hawk 81A.

The 87A Comes from the english, the USA had the same aircraft with Numbers P-whatever, even tho both aircraft were the same model.

Appearently Curtis, the company that made the P-40, gave it the name of Hawk, the military gave it it's number designator thing-a-ma-gig of P-40. If I'm not mistaken, there were other hawks in service as well. The English did indeed call it the hawk. Again don't take my word for it. I'm a bit more knowledgable of a P-51 and an F-6 hellcat than I am of a P-40.

nice image. Anyway just a tad of information on the P-40 for you The P-40, developed from the P-36, was America's foremost fighter in service when WWII began. P-40s engaged Japanese aircraft during the attack on Pearl Harbor and the invasion of the Philippines in December 1941. They also were flown in China early in 1942 by the famed Flying Tigers and in North Africa in 1943 by the first AAF all-black unit, the 99th Fighter Squadron. At the end of the P-40's brilliant career, more than 14,000 had been produced for service in the air forces of 28 nations, of which 2,320 were of the "E" series which were the P-40E commonly known as the KittyHawk.

Nice In-The-Air Scene, only the propeller blur could be a little bit more i think.
