I most definitely was worth it, the edges are so much smoother, cleaner reflections and much more convincing contrasts - this is a whole lot better :-)

Totally worth it, I think this is far better. I am surprised at what people working iwth Vue think of as slow. I have had renders that ran for more than a week using other packages.

I'm glad you liked it! BTW, I don't think of Vue as 'slow'. I'm used to watching paint dry as I used to work in oils. Then I switched to watercolour where every stroke is complete when your brush leaves the paper - you either scrap it or live with the errors. I'm just getting crotchety and impatient in my old age. ;-)
