I send this out to you Stella, thevolunteer for I know you long to capture a butty. If you want to capture a monarch, look for this bush and you can't go wrong...Much Aloha to you!
Crown Flower;
Indian Milkweed; Pua-kalaunu
The crown flower was a favorite with Queen Liliuokalani. This native of India is used for leis strung either with the whole flower or with the crown only. This milkweed is also a favorite of the monarch butterfly who sips the nectar and uses it as host plant for its caterpillars.

So this is what milk weed looks like! I've always wondered, cuz I've read so many butty books (to find out what I can grow in my backyard to attract them) but none have pictures. This is a great help...never seen this plant in my life. Excellent macro dave, love the colour =)
