Description

When I first came to Renderosity I was amazed at the skills and abilities of the members. My goal was to learn 3D rendering and the resources and help was truly overwhelming. To the people who have helped me, joked with me, scolded me, or otherwise been my friends, Thank you! Increasingly the forums are being used for political, religious, or social commentary instead of how to use a particular piece of software. Half on-topic rants about why something free isn

OH MY! I am not sure what to say. It looks like you had some things to get off your chest, and I commend you for that. I think much of what you said is very true, let's just hope this is not the true future of this great community. There are blogs out there for these discussions and I believe as you do, that this is not the place for that kind of thing. I love this site and all the members that have been so kind to me and I also don't appreciate some people that constantly want to spawn heated debates and post offending renders. Thank you for posting this in hopes of getting those members back on track. Mark

Well, nice way to make sure you get your point out. I don't think that this type of thing is mentioned much-it's put on the back burner a lot-so I hope that something good will come of your post.

This place has changed a lot since I first stumbled in, some good, some bad, with some stuck in between. People take things too seriously, too personal now. It's getting harder to do certain things, say certain things... eventually even to think certain things will be a no-no. It's frustrating here sometimes, and I don't really bother exploring everything, so I'm sure there's a lot I haven't walked in on. Still good to have R'osity around, but it ain't the same.

I must agree with you 100%. Why is it that people cannot or willnot take a joke for what it is? Probably because they enjoy taking some higher moral ground by turning a joke or criticism seriously. Oh well, personally I keep my interests devoted to what Renderosity is....an art site with tons of resources. I think if people keep that perspective they won't get so easily torqued out of shape at the opinions of others. Wonderful illustration work and Bravo on your assertiveness.

Excellent parody. I kept feeling I was seeing double with 2 headers and sidebars. Great job of matching the fonts and graphics. V

I agree. Starting with: Lose the votes. How many out there check the Hot-20 after each posted comment to see if a vote was cast? (Not I..) At least dump the vote count display on the Hot-20 galleries. That way we can kid ourselves into believing only 1 vote sets one apart from Michelangelo. Next: Lose the Ranking. Some little ol lady gets slammed for trying to paint a sky by some Brycer that just clicks SKY3.. default! Lastly: Give the artist a public/private option box on each posted comment so they can select which comments their audience can see and which ones not. Even a delete button to blow off jealous commentors could be useful. These suggestions may help improve everyones expirence while visiting an art community and make new folks feel more comfortable in posting their efforts. Oh.. while we're at it, get rid of 'Most Viewed'.. It's a self fulfilling and misleading option. Anyway, Electroglyph, excellent spoof above. Hope no one burned you on copyright stuff..hehehe. Best to ya, Dave :^)

A wonderfully done parody indeed Electro!! You made me laugh, and think. I wish you would reconsider leaving. You've been one of the stalwarts that I always enjoyed seeing in the Forum. Your posts, ideas, and jokes were always welcome AFAIC, and your art has grown in excellence and accomplishment. Please think it over. If this is truly goodbye, then the best of luck, and safe journeys my friend.:-)
