What a positive svale it is difficult to say precisely; but judging by the estimated size og the leaves I would say a raven. In this area crows are quite large. Outstanding capture by the way, the detail is superb; you have made a 'bird' into an artwork. V P.S. Ward Bond would have been an excellent choice if you could seperate him from John Wayne :-). He played a priest also in 'The Quiet Man.'

Well its not a crow...too small. Ive never even heard of a blackbird..but then again..im swedish...but i would think its one of those...or? Doesnt matter actually, cause whats important is how amazing this photo is. This is a very impressive capture, so crisp and clear and all colours remain subtle and that fits perfect to this bird...bla bla bla...what a loooooon comment this is turning out to become...bla bla bla...better stop...soooooon....Have a great weekend!!! #:O)

I'm not sure, but I think crows have larger beaks and blackbirds have smaller beaks. I would guess that this is a raven. Nice capture!

Auf Deutsch: ist das 'die Kre' oder 'der Rabe'?

I believe this one is a Raven- it can be distinguished from a Rook by the feathers at the base of the beak, a rook has a bald patch. The Raven is a much larger bird than a crow and has a sturdier beak as here. The blackbird is about half this size and the males that have the black plumage also have a yellow beak. Blackbirds are song birds. Well after all that this is a nice shot of a Raven - well done :)

Blackbird (Amsel) is a songbird and much smaller with orange beak (beautie male only :-)(see for exampel gallery of Tommorules), I would agree with diomedes its a raven I'm always on the hunt for a perfect crow shot (we've lot of em here, but they are soooooo damned shy) Very good photo ! http://www.junglewalk.com/frames.asp

its a crow... theres nothing else in the bird family that looks like that. the raven is much bolder and not so sleek and ravens don't live in north america as well, but i dont know where your from... great shot though. =)

A Raven is a Crow and a carrion eater although they will eat just about anything. A Blackbird is much smaller 250mm and eats grubs, worms and berries. An excellent shot!

Hervorragendes Bild !!! Tippe auf Rabe...? oder nicht? Unterscheiden sich glaube vor allem durch die Schnabelfarbe? Dagegen spricht natlich das Raben (oder meine ich die Kolkraben?)wesentlich seltener sind als Kren...

It's definitely a raven, its beak curls over slightly at the end, and its tail is a bit longer, compared to a crow. Fantastic capture - great exposure to bring out all the feather detail - not easy! Congrats! Steve.
