Description

I did this images five years ago. They are part of an animation sequence, all done wiht VIZ3 default scanline renderer without raytrace materials on a 700 Mhz computer with unbelievable 128 Mb of ram and a for Mb graphics card. As hardware is a lot faster today and the software sellers promise a better workflow with every expensive update, we sould be able to do our 3D works a multiple faster. But I have some doubts about that.

This is excellent! I have a train sim - TRAINZ and it has a model of this to set up on the layout, it's almost if not identical. I did actually cross the real bridge once and what a fantastic structure it is. You have portrayed it well!

Thanks, escafeld. Unfortunately I never had the chance to see the real bridge. I had to use some books to make this model. So it's nice to hear from people who crossed the bridge, that my images look approx. like the real situation.

This is amazing - and fantastic that you did it under those curcumstances, it is fantastastic even measured by current standards imo. Super modelling, texturing and light. Excellent work!

very well done. The Firth of Forth Bridge has to be the funniest name for a bridge :)

This is an absolutely superb composition. The detail, POV and lighting are exceptional. My first impression was that it was a photograph. Well done indeed! V

how can you have doubts about that? if rendering times are down on the 1 and same scene, that means shorter time.. the only "problem" is that as processors are getting faster, we cram more detail and effects into our images. hence it will always be kind of the same rendertime. but you cant say that there isnt any improvement in the same scene lol

I live in edinburgh and this is one of the best models of the bridge i've seen, only one thing though, the top picture, It looks like your bridge is too long. or you've altered the DOP.

There is something about the brick scales, but the scene and texture are great.
