Description
Okay so I lied, it's not a studio model. Not being a good plastic modeller, this is the closest that I will get to building something like that.
BTW: Since someone will always ask, it's not rendered in Brazil, just standard Max scanline.

OK, this is kool. Are you gonna do a scene with it? Yeah? Kool!!!

That's NOT a picture of a plastic model kit? These shots can't be Studio Max renders- it looks like someone took a camera and took pictures of their plastic model (as if to sell on eBay)!

Great work. Isnt this rendered with Brazil? Great reflections and details.

Hey guys, Thanks for the compliments. It is rendered with a technique called dome lighting which is just an array of spot lights arranged in a dome pattern around the model. It simulates the effect of radiosity (ie reflect light from nearby walls or the floor) and is not anywhere as accurate as Brazil but definitely faster to render.

excellent rendering technique. if it weren't for the logo on the base looking a bit flat on that front view, i would have thought you was pulling a fast one with pictures of an actual plastic model as well!

The soft glowing highlights on the base are exceedingly good. Very realistic looking.

This is amazing! The lighting, materials, and colors are awesome! Have you ever thought about modeling the new enterprise? From the new series? I like the design of this one, you did very well on keeping the overall look of the enterprise(s), but made your own look and feel to it.

Oops, I keep forgeting to mention that the model is based on a design by Josh Spencer for a Star Trek board game. In interpreting his prints, I only made minor alterations and changes to the design. A copy of the original prints can be seen in WIP gallery post.

Woah, looks pretty darn realistic to me. They do look like digital camera photos, expecially the ones with the darker background. Extremely nice job!
