They are beautiful creatures, but unforunatly many are killed here at one major highway in California, HWY5. The red lights on the 18 wheelers look like prey to the owls at night, especially during a rain storn. So when I drive from San Francisco area to Los Angeles, one takes HWY5 and I can see as many as 45 plus within a certain area along the highway. Once I recall counting over 60 dead Barn Owls. just wish this could be avoided. On a lighter note, I remember in Tracy, California, I was photographing a barn when an owl flew right by me. One does not hear them at all. Silent fliers. So what about the photograph? I must admit, I marvel at those who are able to capture natures creatures so prefectly. :~)
