Description
A scene from early in the Larry Niven novel "World of Ptaavs", depicting the A.R.M. ramjet carrying Lucas Garner accelerating along it's electromagnetic launch rail.
I looked at some 1960s NASA designs for reference. Also, the ship looks a bit Thunderbirdsy... but that seems appropriate given that the book was written in the 1960s.
Post work in PaintShopPro.

very nice work. Youve really captured the look of scifi cover art. Bravo :o)

I like that a lot!!! makes me think of the Wipeout game on the Playstation ;)

Nice render - does have that 'golden age' sci-fi look and feel... The buildings and sky colouring particularlt bring to mind Chris Foss. Great work!
dcmstarships
nice action scene with a bit of a Chris Foss feel; would make a great SF novel cover

Fantastic image, you can almost feel the speed!! I like it a lot :)
kellendor
Fantastic work - really sweet modeling, texturing, and render. Could be the cover of a book (and I just looked up and saw that dcmstarships already said that - well, I agree!). Great work!!

Everyone else has already said it, I thought "Chris Foss" even before I started reading the comments - Golden Age indeed...

Certainly the ships have a 60's inspiration. Excellent!!

Just remember: the shape of things to come is yet to be; mid 21st century, I'm sure lots of new work will be described thus: "Hmm, so retro...so Noughties in style." (as everyone passes by in their hip and strangely familiar 2060's fashion!) This is a good 'un!! Let's see more please.
WZRD
Yeah that does it for me! I've spent a small fortune buying paperback sci-fi books simply because the cover art looked this good (WZRD drifts off into fond remembrances of EE Doc Smith's classic Lensman series.....)

Wonderful and very beautiful work of art!

You definitely captured a "painterly" vibe with your work. It is very similar to paperback covers of the seventies as done by the masters of that art. Great job in capturing such an iconic style with any kind of CGI render!
