Description

Two renders on this one with water, one without. I feel that I could have done a better job in some respects, and I welcome feedback. Needless to say, it is a lesson learned. Happy Friday, y'all - and thanks for looking in!

A fantastic terrain with an interesting focus on the crater thingy. Good hazy misty feel and I like the sun rays. This effect inside the crater? is fantastic!

At first sight I couldn't understand the light part on the right hand side, read your text and was asking me if this is the water, until my eyes touched the crater ;-) I like the surface except for the amount of bump on the lighter part. I get a feeling of imbalance here, as the crater itself isn't quite within the rule of 1/3 and the bright area almost is. Nonetheless I am studying this image longer than any others of yours (searching for vegetation and green skys) so it is quite fascinating - guess that the above mentioned imbalance is just a part that gives this render a tense mood.

Excellent surfacing and effetcs of 2 level water! one though is that i expect green surfaces in some parts, thats why at least in this planet, it rains often to do a lake crater!!

Maybe a simple judicious cropping might free this up a bit like Haroon says. Sometimes I render a bigger area and then play with the cropping tool to see if I can improve the balance. Nevertheless, the water adds interest and variety. Love the cool terrain and the surfaces are intriguing.

Very cool terrain! I like the water inside the crater and the light colours of the haze on the right.

This looks like a very ancient and worn landform. Excellent presentation of a terrain, atmosphere, surfaces and lighting!

Interesting image! so desolate and almost sad i dunno too much about tereagen, thanks for the invitation, Rich. i must say that the water looks so real! i love the fact the scene dont look as a mere photo, there are lots of landscapes around the world to do that but this image has a very personal feeling, the terrain is impressive as well! the upper right part of the image dont look as good as the rest of the scene cause the myst cuts a bit abrupt. i would love to see the crater a bit to the left to work a better yet composition following the 3rd's rule, since the main actor here is the crater itself. a real original POV and overall excellent image! i think that i will do a humble try with the terragen software to understand a bit more this kind of works. thanks again Rich, for your personal invitation :)

I think it's the only way to get water up there (apart from post working it in), and you've combined the renders well; excellent work with the usual exemplary standard of surfacing.

awesome Rich. I even like the right side, lol. It makes it feel like this caldera is on the edge of a flat barren desert
