Description

this is my firs project I have ever posted! the chair is completely original, and I was unassisted in any way. the floor texture was simlpy a built in texture for 3ds max. id really like to get some comments, and tips for improvment. this is the first of an entire fully detailed house im making. :)

First off I don't know what your chair looks like exactly, or is this just a chair out of your imagination?. Firstly I think you could put a texture onto it. Just experiment with mixing some of the procedural textures that come with max to get a leather type texture. The noise displacement on the chair is good, it makes it look imperfect which is a major flaw in computer graphics. I think though that there might be too much noise in some places, actually I think it's just the dark lighting that really excentuates the noise, it's probably perfect in a more normal lighting environment. Anyways looks like you did a great job.

You could try one of these textures at this link: http://www.3dmaxer.dk/textures.asp?textuid=209 I agree with GOD that the noise displacement is good. Perhaps a leather texture in the diffuse color slot combined with your current bump would work.

how do i have "generate mapping chords" on by default? i have to redoo parts of the shair, because i forgot to check the box and now, the textures refuse to work properly. :(

Sorry about before, but telling me to give it a good ratine was too tempting.
