Description

The snow hardly melted away as the first flowers started to bloom. This is just one example: a dark pink blooming rhododendron. In fact I think it is Rhododendron dauricum but I am not sure about that. For several years I tried to take a picture of this Rhodo, which appeared to be difficult because of the poor lightening... that is in the shade of our house. I did not want to use flash light... this one is taken today with natural light and a tripod. Hope you like it.

excellent work iaacf. the lighting show up the delicate, almost crystaline structure of the petals, lovely. (small biology lesson; the 'thingy' curving down the front is the pistil, it collects pollen from the stamens, the other 'thingys' in the center of the flower, "sex among the rhododendrons", how exciting.) ;-]
