Description
A work in progress...tho' how much further it will progress is unknown. I am currently turning a friend on to 3D modeling/Carrara. He is an avid model railroader, and while I am not, I've always loved the European style Single Driver engines. Oddly, they seem to be forgotten in the model world. So with Mike's interest, and teteille's extraordinary example, I got stoked and put this together.
There's much left undone at this point. No connecting rods, many pipes, valves, etc. It's 'way too shiny...but all that can be cured. It's not any specific engine. Just a pastiche of things that I liked in the pictures I could find.

At first I didn't believe such a strange thing ever existed! A search on the web proved me wrong! (again) Nice model and quite unique.

I have no idea why the Single Driver has been forgotten. Perhaps because locomotive design went in a different direction in America...we're so used to seeing the "Olde West" cowboy-movie locos. When I tried to find a working model [for display] I cruised many European model train sites looking...and found nothing. But the Single Driver [in various development modes] was THE engine design from 1850 to the beginning of the 20th Century. Very strange.
