Description

This is a tribute to my favorite artist, Degas. Most people are unaware that he was also an 'amateur' photographer.I think he might have liked this.By the way, I didn't 'check' the nudity box, (who hasn't seen a naked Barbie?),but I hope no one is offended.

I'm upset I missed this until now - great tribut to Degas. I think he definately would have liked it! ;] The sepia gives it a really nice authentic and artsy feel. BTW, if you want to talk the Orient, feel free to IM me so we don't clog up Pascale's thread anymore. ;]

Brilliant idea. I thought I was the only person who had a barbie cementary. There used to be bits of Barbies everywhere when my daughter was small. This image does make me laugh but it is so good.

Wonderful composition! And very creative! I love the monotone palette you've chosen! Gives it a classic "Timeless" feel!

Haha, check it Lady :) Naked is naked. Degas made most of his studys with photographs, after that he painted them, often combining em. But Toulouse or Vinni G where excellent 2 ;) Lovely tribute, strong American influence by Mattel, lol.

a great juxtaposition of late 19thC. and modern mannequins (or headless statues, whatever...) I love that you didn't do anything to PS out their plastic or their joins (or give them heads), and how you positioned them as if they're doing their best to move with the ballet figures in the background. And you got everything in the same tonal range too. Did you paint the Degas figures too? I know of a few dance classes by Degas, but don't recognize this...if you painted/drew these, more hats off to you! But even if you didn't, you harmonized everything so that these two different worlds work seamlessly together. Since Degas was one of the masters of the cloistered drawing/ptg, you got the same inside lighting for the mannequins too. And re. Degas, at least you don't have to spray on fixatives when you're through (like he did with his many pastels). I think Degas used Methyl Alchohol, which is really poisonous. Anyway, very skilled and lots of fun too. And subtle.
