Description

~*~Hebe~*~ Hebe is the goddess of youth, and the daughter of Zeus and Hera. She poured the nectar of the gods on Olympus until Ganymede replaced her. Hebe also prepared Ares' bath, and helped Hera to her chariot. After Heracles obtained immortality, he married her. The Romans called her Juventas ("youth"). She was portrayed as a young woman, wearing a sleeveless dress. On various vases she is shown as cup bearer of the gods, or as bride of Heracles. Famous was the --now lost -- statue of Hebe, made of ivory and gold, by Naucydes (brother of Polycletus) in the 5th century BCE. This statue was also shown on more recent coins from Argos. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Graphite pencils #'s F, HB, 2B and 3B. Bristol paper. All postwork in PSP. Filter used Sinedots. I love it . The dress is very nice . But my only critic is that I think her neck is too long ...Apart from that , very great .

You have manifested a great handling of form in this peice. I like the meditative mood and the naturalism inherent in the drapery. Also, I am quite a fan of world mythology (in between studying biology...) and really enjoyed the informative statement you made about Hebe.

Not only are your mythology images beautiful but your comments are educational as well! Have again, added to favs. The way you sketch and soften the draping clothing amazes me! Excellent job!!
