Very interesting photography, Pascale... only a few people would have seen this... B&W fits perfectly ! I like very much this image but I would understand that others would say "So what ?" Anyway, thank you for posting and requesting honest comment... I'm just curious to read and so, I'll come back... :~)

I love shots of things that most people wouldn't consider photographing, so you've definately won me over here. I can't say if you cropped too much...but I do like what you have. Those stains and dirt...and the sepia tone really make the subtle detail stand out.

It may be cropped just a touch too tight, but this is very much down to personal taste! Aside from that, beautiful light captured here, it makes a mundane subject very aesthetically pleasing :-)

agree with synapse on cropping.. (((only my opinion would of given alittle more breathing room at the sides, but that is just my personal taste)))..but reguardless a perfectly beautiful composition giving this garage door a presence.. so much detail.. and beautiful light.. ex..

The effect of horizontal liness is usually to constrain an image dimensionally...and bring a sense of solidity or shortening in a composition. a crop that includes only this feature gives you the practical effect with little room for depth exploration visually but forces peripheral or texture-oriented viewing on the flat dimension...these horizontals enhance the idea of being up against a wall / behind a door where only a little can be seen in DOF. Sepia (as opposed to colour) also visually reduces the amount of eyecatching detail but there are textures, shadows and vertical lines here giving interest..

Well I like the subject of the shot. I think you have cropped too tightly around the door, plus the crop makes the image look unbalanced because of the very tight crop at the top, effectively it is missing a top border if you see what I mean. I would actually crop so the door is the only subject, excluding the walls and ground. The door is interesting enough with it's markings and rust, and the encroaching twigs, dirt, leafs, make for an good image. Sepia is good, but I would have gone b/w to allow a greater appearance and variety of shades and textures to show. BUT, nice work and imaginative art!

I looked at this a lot, especially the top, before reading any comments. The top was the only thing I wasn't sure about at first but I think I like it this way. It leaves the viewer wondering how high or massive this door is, taking it from a garage door into possibly something else. Great job on the tones and contrast as well, a stark and mysterious shot!

I like the tone, spacing of horizontal elements and the detail. Interesting composition and I like the cropping; less would distract from the focus of the composition.

I REALLY like the toning and the unbalanced feel! The left side has that wall shadow and pretty much unscathed. The RIGHT side is just the opposite...major paint peelin and that creepin vine clingin up the wall! Can't say if the croppin is TOO MUCH, since there is no reference to go by...THIS look GREAT to me though!

Well my first reaction was I was slamming into it. Given that the doors are primarily smooth, I think a wider shot would have worked better. If the doors had more vines and perhaps a big hole then maybe this would be the right crop. Those are some very interesting doors btw, never would you see such character in the USA.

The cropping is perfect to me! The small part of brick wall on the left and right makes a wonderful framing and gives depth. Really like the tones, excellently done! I'm a sucker for windows and doors... so this is just my cup of tea :o) v

To be honest i think your right about it being cropped too tight. But i can see where you are going with this, maybe you can do it again ? Great potential here and still a great shot though !! :o)
