Description
Created in Vue 5 Infinite (though it could be done in Esprit), rendered at 800x600 in "final" mode, hence the graininess.
Consists of a single procedural terrain and a cube for the water.
I'm just trying to work out how to use procedural terrains and mixed materials. I'm not happy with the image, but it's progress, hence the title :)
Enjoy, and thanks for taking the time to look.

It's extremely good am interested in why you used a cube for water, wonderful textures

Agree with rob2753, no need for a cube, just apply the water mat to the ground and pull terrain a little bit deeper. Foreground and water looks excellent. Reflections are awesome ! Background seems to be cut somehow. Well done !

Hi guys, thanks very much for the feedback :) I used a cube for two reasons...everyone else seems to be using them instead of a water plane, from others posting on RO to the samples provided with V5i. Also because I was thinking of using ecosystem plants too. Using a cube you can "detect foreign objects" so that the ecosystem won't get too close to the water, giving a more natural look. I've not checked yet, but I don't think that detection works with infinite planes, such as a water one. Thanks again.

I think it's great, rendered at Final setting i'm sure this would be fantastic. FWIW i also use a cube for water whenever i don't want the water to go all the way to the horizon.

Nice work. Thanks for the info about the cube. I've been having trouble keeping plants out of the water.

Using a terrain for water is a good option sometimes too especially as you can sculpt ripples (or use a bitmap for that..)and it will react as object for the eco detection.. promising work :)
