I thought it was time to move on...to the great naval conflict that took place in the Pacific.

In the later part of WW II it was discovered that all the paint used on the planes to give them camoflauge added a lot of drag and that way caused the planes to loose a lot in speed. Therefore the longer the war went one the more usual it became with war planes having very little paint or even no paint at all on their fuselage. Instead they retained the grey metal finish the planes had when they left the factory.
