Description
"I wanna be a star!"
This little blossom was found growing in a small patch in an out-of-the-way spot of my in-laws garden. At first glance it didn't seem like anything special, but when I crouched down and squinted, I saw how neat it really was. There were a number of shoots coming off a central stalk, but I felt that cropping out the rest and just keeping this one had the most impact. The actual flower may have been just over a centimeter from petal tip to petal tip. It is shown here at pretty much full resolution, just downsized slightly.
Thanks to everyone who has commented on this series. I know there are a lot of flower photos here in the Rosity Photo gallery, so I am trying to make Tiny Flowers as interesting as possible. ;o)
I'd like to dedicate this image to one of my favorite artists, Vincent Van Gogh, and his "Starry Night" painting. I had a print of it hanging in my dorm room while attending college for art, so I guess you could say he was a big influence, though you might not see if from looking at my work. The most important thing I learned from him was to look at the world in a different way. Today is his birthday and Google is doing one of their logo dedications to him. Go check it out!

Proud to be a fellow citizen of Vincent! ;) The effect of artists can be subtly working its way out and you name it so well, it's about looking to the world in a different way! Fantastic shot, love to see the small details of nature!
