Description

I'm in a sculpture class right now. This the first 'sculpture thing' I have ever done so please be kind. It's a bit sketchy, and disproportionate I know. It's really frustrating; I have a lot of growing to do in this area but I thought I'd share it anyway. Coiled clay.

I think it looks wonderful. What's the medium? What you call sketchy and disproportionate, I all modern. :) Keep up the fantastic work, and keep us posted as to your progress...

This is awesome work.. Coming from a pottery/3d background I know how much work is involved in getting something out.. This is Awesome work, and only your first. I only touched on the sculpture side, my main forte was handbuilding tho. You're a very talented person indeed :)

I can't even draw so I can't really criticize, but I really like it. Looks just like bronze. What's on the clay that looks metallic?

LOL, yes indeed clay can give on a run for one's money. It seems you are doing well in school!

It's actually difficult to assess this sculpture since you present only two selected views of the piece. If you had shown the whole object then it would be easier to judge your sculpture and whether or not the work is disproportionate. But then again it's almost impossible to properly appreciate sculpture on a computer screen. To get closer to experiencing this piece, it would be necessary to present a video of it, with the camera turning 360 around the object. Even so, from the edited 'highlights' that you show here, your first sculpture looks very promising indeed. It is a work that has been made with care and the true spirit of an artist as is all your work. Bravo Alvin.

Not bad at all for your first one. I can feel your frustration... but you have fun working on it, haven't you? :)

and Renderosity welcomes the new and reborn Salvadore Dali. This is very well done. If I didn't know better, I would say you made every indentation, groove etc on purpose and I love the paint job.

It looks impressive, I've only done a small amount of clay work my self and I know the coiled method makes proportion very hard to achive but dose'nt it teach you the most about it. Thanks for ading me to your fav. list.
