... And I think to myself, what a wonderful world. :-)
How a man whose voice sounded so rough could sing so beautifully I may never understand, but I have to admit "What a wonderful world" is probably one of my top 50 favorite songs. I especially like the line "the bright blessed day, the dark sacred night." I have a sleeping disorder (among other things) that has resulted in my living a large portion of my life in the night time. I have come to enjoy the dark and the night and truly feel the deep sacredness of it. The darkness itself is nothing to fear. Once you get past the unrealistic fears, there is actually a wonderful calm and peacefulness in a quiet dark night. God is there as well and is not hindered by it. If you are in his arms, you are as safe in the darkest night as you are in the brightest day. The next time you find yourself with an opportunity (safely), go out into the night and just stand and look and listen. Maybe you too will discover the beautiful song the night sings to me. It is good.

This developed from my making the Rose Window to add to a scene for a freelance project. When I was test rendering it, I had this idea of the two little birds all safe and sound in the cathedral window and just knew that I had to make this image.

The window is a 1024x1024 terrain using a Photoshop file I made.
