This is a thistle.I use to go in the woods and get food out there . I guess everyone did at one time of they lives. If not you will know with a thistle you can take the leaves and make a potherb and when you cut the spines off the leaves you can make a good salad. The sterms you peel and cut in short sections and boiled makes a good vegetable of very excellent quality. The roots can be eaten raw or cooked; not as tasty. There a lot of books out there to do this type of thing. One very good rule to know if you going to get food in the wild. #1. if you donot know what it is do not eat it. There things out there that will kill you.
