Description
Major Barker won his Victoria Cross on the 27th.October 1918,flying the aircraft illustrated.He was on routine patrol and shot down a German two seater at about 8.30am,when he was wounded in the right thigh by a Fokker D7.Spinning down,he pulled out in the middle of a group of about 15 Fokkers of which he shot one down in flames.Wounded again in his left thigh,he fainted and his Snipe fell out of control,when he regained consciousness he found himself the target of another group of 12-15 enemy fighters,but shot one down before being wounded in the left elbow,again he fainted; on coming round he was attacked by a third enemy formation and again he shot an enemy fighter down before diving away.He broke thru a final group of eight German aircraft before bringing his Snipe safely down near a British observation balloon.

Good images but the color schemes of Germans is much more interesting. (Neither more effective or relevant) With blue and white albatrosses and pfalzes make for interesting work 5 color losenge patterns. Great story good to see soemoen who researches their subjects.
