I have been writing stories and poetry all of my life. My interest in art began when my Dad held my hand when I was about two years old and helped me to draw a face. Since then I have progressed through pencils and crayons through water colours and oils and finally I am doing most of my art on the computer. I have created all of the illustrations in my books and have a substantial art gallery here at Renderosity. I was born in England and travelled to Australia with my family when I was ten years old. We moved to Mount Gambier when I was a child and I returned here in the early 90s and have lived here since. My early life was filled with books and reading and every Christmas we always received a story book of some kind. I remember our book shelves being filled with the works of Kipling, Shakespeare, H. G. Wells, Jules Verne and Edgar Allen Poe, to name a few, together with a good smattering of Enid Blyton and many other children's authors. That early contact with books at my mother's knee inspired a love of reading and writing for which I will always be thankful.

i agree with keny ,too dark you can barely see anything

I think the dark is the effect for the spell casting! I don't feel it was her intent for the viewer to see the entire room, but the downcast lighting to add the atmosphere of the spell. I think it's original and imaginative. That's why it's called...the spell!

I like it

It is a bit dark on my monitor at work, but I can't go by that as even some of my own work seems dark here. I'll check it at home. However if you want, there is a tutorial on this site with visual chart to help you set your monitor up correctly. Most people actually have it wrong and see correct images as being too dark. Could be the case here.

Hi all I have redone some of the settings and I hope the image is now more "viewer" friendly. I have tried to provide a little more light without losing the affects I was trying to achieve. Thanks to everyone who provided constructive criticism.

Love the lighted outlines on this, I think you've achieved the effect, it looks very eerrie :)

Great expression. Nice atmosphere

I like the idea, but would suggest adding a rim light. Then you can still have the dark room, but the figures won't get lost in the darkness.

Lovely Josephine!

Most likely it's still too dark. Are those horns on her head? Is that supposed to be an owl just below her right hand? The lighting looks spooky and cool, but I haven't a clue what I'm looking supposed to be seeing.
