For some reason this reminded me of Raymond Chandler's shrot story "Heat" (if I remember the title right). - Dangerous things begin to happen when the heat is bothering people day after day, night after night... Wonderful concept, splendid colours! I love this work of yours!!!! :-)

Heat is definitely what speaks to me here. But it's evocative of more than just heat haze - it's almost like viewing the room in a wildly different state of consciousness. Chemicals anyone? Really it's evocative of so many possible things and that's its main strength to me :-)
