The rear gun bubble in the Grumman is quite unique. Fine work as always Geoff.
Tamarrion
Nice work as always. One point of constructive criticism: the cowling on the TBM is almost square, not tapered as you have it. Almost anything with a radial engine will have that feature. I worked with TBM's a bit over a decade ago, when they were still in use as spray planes. Loved the roar of that engine!

I'm afraid Tamarrion is in error - every plan and photograph I have (a great many) of wartime Avengers shows the cowling as I have it.I assume that some modifications took place when they were civilianised !!

Excellent work as always Geoff.

Tamarrion, could the spray plane you worked on have been the Consolidated TBY-2? It looks similar to the Grumman TBM-3 since it was designed at the same time by Chance Vought using the same Navy specs. They sold the design to Consolidated. It does have a more stubby nose. Geoff, excellent series you have going, they are well researched. Are you doing them for a book or poster?
