Description
The biggest scene I've yet done in Vue. My poor little old computer was not amused... 123 object, 177 materials, 11mln polygons. Rendered in 22 hours.
Iraq has known better days. 700 BC the city of Babylon on the banks of the river Euphrates was to the world what Paris and New York are to us...
The architecure was modelled by myself in SketchUp; the Ischtar gate, Ziggurath (better known as Babel Tower) and three tiered city wall adhere closely to available archeogical data. The blue tile tableaus of mythological creatures were scanned from several archeology books.
Whether the famous hanging gardens ever really existed, and if so, what they looked like, is unknown, so the version I inserted on the left is my own invention. The landscape is also an artistic freedom, as the actual city was located in an empty, boring desert plain.
