A Tiger for Mea (Photoshop) www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php

I have been drawing since I was 11, some 33 years ago.
My 6th grade teacher, Mr. Knoss, was a great artist and I greatly admired his illustrations. He encouraged me to pursue my artistic interests at a crucial time in my development.
My High School art teacher "Vern", was also a great influence. He always challenged me to try different things.
I was lucky that my parents were very supportive of my interest in art. I studied at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1986-1990). Where I was humbled by many great artists that were far more talented than I. There it was that I rounded out my fine art skills, and then chose to major in Media Arts. Studied film, video and sound. Learned all the skills needed to shoot, direct, edit those mediums.
While pursuing a Media Arts major, I discovered computer graphics, still in it's infancy. This is where I came to an Epiphany. Here was a new medium, that incorporated everything I had previously learned into one new medium. Not only that, but it had new dimensions, interactivity, feedback, randomness, AI. I was hooked.
The next 17 years I learned and grew with the industry. Learning everything from how to create and manipulate digital imagery and create animations, to interface design and interactive authoring. My day job is an Information Architect, a fancy term for software interface design.
A few years back, my wife and I hit on some difficult times (As many people do) and it was during a very dark time in our lives that I discovered what became Renderosity, Initially I posted work, merely as a way to get myself back into the discipline of making new art.
I was delighted to find a world-wide community of talented artists, exchanging ideas and art!! I was thrilled! I have learned so much from you, and your art has brightened up my world. I am lucky to have made some great friends here, and I aim to do tributes to all of you!

the contrasting colors are at war in my eye!! brilliant, sad & captivating :]

I agree with the above, and I think the confusion and the difficulty of distinguishing figures from background adds an extra level of poignancy. And those tanks are great.

makes me wonder why.....great job
Digimon
Thanks for the comments! I wanted this to be a very symbolic piece, like Diplomacy. I wanted there to be no clear reference to any particular "Real world" army. I chose Red and Green for thier symbolic value, but also because they do contrast each other, and actually "Vibrate". The ground plane was experimental, but I was happy with the result. I made the tanks from primitives, even though I have highly detailed models I could have used, again because I wanted to keep it symbolic. The only "Realistic" element are the explosions, I thought that added the realism I needed to make the piece surreal.

I really like the ground plane. And I also really like the way that you didn't use different props for the different sides (i.e. everything is the same on both sides, and the only difference is the color). Nicely done. And sad. :-(

The Robaxacet soldiers look like they might get the upper hand on the republic of mantis --but then nothing is gained in the end--a very fine work of art --powerful motion and vision --as always.. excellent --I will walk softly and carry a large Vote

A sequel! I like it how they are not using weapons but instead going at it up close & personal... in my mind it symbolizes the fact that no matter how much technology we introduce to it, war is always the same: you are still killing the other team's soldiers to try and force him to conform to your demands. I think that you should add some dust in there (maybe Peter Sharpe's mist texture--I love that!) to further symbolize how dirty and awful war is. Well done artistic expression. V

Well done! The colors and the lack of detail (no specific uniforms, countries . . . ) work very well to get the point across.

Will we even reach the shores of peace? As a race that is head of this planet we still manage to kill one another for land and greed also we are like a cancer eating away the very essence that gives us life Earth. I sometimes wonder were we created just to destory??? Outstanding symbolic work friend. Bravo!!!...:)
