Description

- Scotland, Kyle of Lochalsh - I really stopped often in this area to catch the beautiful play of sun and shadow. That was Scotland as I had expected it. On this day all old ghosts were alive! Thanks for all interest and welcome comments. Have a nice day! ;o) About the suggestions for contrast: At first here the intensity of the shadows is truely higher. And second I tried to get it with less contrast but it looked like a washed out grey. I like it like it is because of the true mood there, the intense of shadows and the b/w and not grey! But thanks a lot for the critics I appreciate, to learn and listen to your true opinions! ;o)

Is it ok to offer some critique to such an awesome image? Ok .. there's a little bit to much contrast in there - for my liking. Anyways .. another wonderful image from Scotland. Thank you so very much .. wanna be there sigh :-)

The cloud shadows certainly do add drama to this atmospheric photo, but Raven 427 may have a point; were the cloud shadows so dark in reality? Excellent photo otherwise.

I'm not sure B/W fits well for this pic... I always feel like I'm missing something when i desaturate a landscape picture... I guess it's a matter of personal taste anyway. :)

Marvelous monochrome composition! The contrast is right on the button! Since the world is rarely black and white anyway, do not worry about achieving 'reality.' Achieve mood and vision! And you have! Magnificent!

Having read some of the comments, I would have to see the colour image in order to say if the contrast level was to dramatic in the conversion of this photograph. Paul AKA:diomedes66, points out that B&W 'art' photography always is more dramatic than reality. As for my thoughts, I wouold still like to see the colour image, even though the sky and clouds are perfectly converted. I am more interested in the area of the trees on the right lower half side.

I think it has worked really well in black & white - the contrast of the clouds, along with the shadows on the hillside is great!
