Description

I promise this will rest the case I am trying to make in general as today's comments are the closing arguments. The discussion hovers around image size. Not file size but the actual image in relation to monitor size. We need to remember that not everyone is a professional photographer or a graphic designer or has a handful of money to spend on large high end large monitors. Most homes have only a 15 or a 17 inch monitor. So we should be aware of how large of an image we present, especially if we do not want the person viewing it having to scroll and therefore not being able to view it in its entirety. So it is not only a file size issue that I am raising, but also one of image size. If we want our audience to have a full and pleasurable experience at Renderosity or anywhere else on the web, we must remember that not everyone has high speed internet connection or a large monitor. Thank you for yesterday's comments on the sequence of an architectural abstract doorway 'Size is Everything' Nr. 2' . Today's sequence of images are from an apartment entranced feature a close-up of the name plate and door bell buttons. The top left hand picture shows the system. Since this is presented as a contact sheet, all images are on their side as the camera was in the vertical position. The wall received a good coat of paint but the actual plate, well you can see, it is rather funky looking and a true find for any photographer. So remember, it is not always the big picture but the very inconspicuous object in every day view that may hold the most interest. Have a great week. Thank you for stopping by Vielen dank das Sie vorbei gekommen sind Merci de votre visite Grazie Obrigado Dank u Takk De Technical Information: CAMERA: Sony DSC-V1, Aperature priority setting to f-8, ISO100, EV -.07, Tripod LIGHT: Natural PHOTOSHOP NOTES: Slight adjustments in auto contrast and auto levels.

An excellent lesson you have presented with examples to go with it. Very interesting and thank you for sharing your knowledge. Aloha

A point well taken of scrolling left to right. For me any kind of scrolling then just slight adjustments is a no no and I have a 21 inch monitor with enough realestate, but I reserve only half of the monitor for the internet so i can still work on other things. ;~)

I'm reposting this because I used dpi instead of just pure pixels width. Graphic design intruding! ;) ---" Another great exploration of the details of an image. They hold their own as a group very well, but could even be split up and still be interesting. :) I totally agree with what you say...it took me a while before I stopped posting such large images. I still want to fit in the most I can, but am aware of scrolling issues. If we work from the assumption that most people willl be using monitors at 800x600 resolution, then our images really shouldn't go over 700 pixels wide, taking RO's side menu into account. Still, I think a lot of people visiting this site run higher resolutions. You also didn't mention that scrolling left to right is more of a no-no than scrolling up and down. ;o] Many of the more experienced members here post at a web freindly size...Enmos being the first one that comes to mind. Sometimes I wish they'd post even larger, but I have a huge monitor at work, and a T2 line. Lucky me. =]

I need to point out one thing as this image is very large and does require scrolling to either side. Because this is a standard 8 x10 contact sheet and images are full frame, this therefore becomes the exception as my other postings are considerable smaller. :~)

There is a German saying that translates to: It is not the size but the spice that matters. Now we are all _____ fill in your own blank ;~)

My love of texture and color has been deeply satisfied with this series of images. Really enchanting, and as already said these would all stand on their own beautifully as well. My monitor resolution is 1280 X 1024, so this image needs no scrolling about for me.

A gregarious and well made point / argument. I think the taking / re-taking of a photograph with a specific image size in mind is a 'given' isn't it? Value per pixel is my creed... your images 5,7-9 work well here for me.

typical for Tedz! LOL I agree with TwoPynts and wish Enmos and some others would post larger images! to small isn't good for a perfect view and to large also! I also tried to post smaller but I felt the image didn't bring the message over! deine Kollektion ist fantastisch zusammengestellt! als Einheit betrachtet wie auch die einzelnen verschiedenen Blickwinkel, die jedesmal einen anderen Eindruck ermitteln! ist meiner Meinung nach ein perfectes Objekt um Gesp f Kompositionen zu bekommen und ein gutes Lehrbeispiel! Danke, Egmond! ;o)))

Now the teacher shows us another great lesson! Cropping, is everything! The textures are so rich, yet how it is cropped, changes our focus! Reminds me of a lesson in college, where we were all given the same video footage, and challanged to edit it into a commentary. Everyone's final piece was radically different than the others! The same footage, but through the power of editing, a completely different message! The same is true of cropping an image, same source material, different stories emerge! Excellent lesson! Thanks teach!
